Spiegel, Alfred (24 December 1919 - 13 March 1958) 
 

Funeral services were held Monday from the Congregational Church for Alfred C. Spiegel, 68, of Rt. 1, Neillsville, who died March 13.  He had suffered a stroke February 8.  The Rev. Frank B. Harcey officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. 
 

Mr. Spiegel was born April 2, 1889, in the Town of Grant, where he also received his education.  He was the son of the late Henry and Johanna (Schoengarth) Spiegel.  He was a blacksmith, and also operated a farm.  He was known through the community as a great outdoors man and took great pleasure in hunting. He was chairman of the Town of Washburn for nine years. 
 

He was married December 24, 1919, to Helga Mackeprang in Neillsville. 
 

He is survived by his wife and four sons: Edgar of Marshfield, Bruce, Alfred Jr., and Robert Spiegel, all of Rt. 2 Granton.  A sister Mrs. Clara Schaper of Milwaukee and a brother, August Spiegel of Port Angeles, Wash., also survive.  Other survivors include 10 grandchildren. 
 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home. 
 

Pallbearers were: Arthur and Jesse Wilding, George Kuehn, Daniel Drescher, Irving Stevens and Frank Short. 
 

Wilfred Galstad vocalist, accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott, sang, "Sweet Bye and Bye," and "Jesus Lover of My Soul."  
 

People from out of town attending included: Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Spiegel and son, Dennis, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Seltrecht, Marshfield: Miss Emma Mackeprang, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Bull, Janesville; William McKinley, George McKinley, Arpin; Harry Jacobson and Francis Jacobson, Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Laufenberg and Louise, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Laufenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Laufenberg, Alma Center; and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hansen, Humbird.
